Born on 29 July 1961, Dimitris Saravakos started his football career at Panionios where his father, Thanasis Saravakos, had played with distinction during the 1950's and 1960's. He transferred to Panathinaikos in 1984 and quickly won the fans over with his speed and fine technique. Late in his career, he joined AEK. He was capped 78 times, scoring 22 goals, for the National Team of Greece.
