Kallithea FC (Kallithea, Athens, Greece, in Greek Π.Α.Ε. Γ.Σ. Καλλιθέα) [1] was founded in 1966 from the amalgamation of five local football clubs: Esperos, Iraklis (Hercules), AE Kallitheas and Kallithaikos. A fifth club (Pyrsos) joined next year (1967). The five stars in the club's logo depict the five founders.
Kallithea FC (in Greek GS Kallithea, Gymnasticos Syllogos Kallithea) started playing in Division 3 in year 1966. In year 1969 was promoted to Division 2 and in year 2002 to Division 1.
Since its foundation (1966) Kallithea FC has played for 15 periods in Division 3 (1966-1969, 1975, 1982-1987, 1990-1993, 1994-1997), 21 periods in Division 2 (1969-1975, 1976-1982, 1987-1990, 1993, 1997-2002) and 3 periods in Division 1 (2002-2005).
In January 2005 the top scorer of the Greek Championship, Theofanis Gekas, was transferred from Kallithea FC to Panathinaikos FC.
