Yiannis Kanakis was a Greek football forward for AEK in the early to mid 1950s. Together with Elias Papageorgiou, he formed the backbone of AEK's attack during that period.

Kanakis was born in 1927 and transferred to AEK from AEK Kavala. He was capped once by the Greek National Football Team.

In 2004, Kanakis took part in the celebration for the 80th anniversary of AEK in Istanbul. He was the oldest ex-AEK player to do so.
