Polygono

Polygono is a district of Athens that is bounded by districts Gyzi and Ampelokipoi.

Unlike its neighbouring districts, Polygono is not densely populated as the construction of multi-storied apartment houses is forbidden in many of its areas. The district is home to the courts of Athens.

It received its name from the polygon-shaped platforms that used to stand there when parades were held at the neighbouring Military School (at the present-day courts). In ancient times its name was Anchesmus.
