Saint Alexander was Bishop of Constantinople between 314 and 337 AD.

Alexander was originally from Calabria in Italy. He succeeded Metrophanes as Bishop of Byzantium in 314.

It was during his term that the First Ecumenical Council was held in Nicaea of Bithynia which condemned Arianism as a heresy.

Alexander's memory is commemorated on August 30.
