Georgios Plytas was a Greek politician and Mayor of Athens.
Plytas was born in 1910, the son of an earlier mayor named Amvrosios Plytas, and studied in Switzerland and England. He was Mayor of Athens from 1964 until 1967. During his term in office a program to pave many streets of Athens was put into effect. During the dictatorship of 1967-1974, Plytas went into self-imposed exile in England.
After the restoration of democracy in 1974, Plytas again sought to become Mayor but was defeated twice in 1975 and 1978.
