- 1900: Arthur Evans purchased the site in Crete where he believed the Minoan palace of Knossos to have been.
- 1921: The Greek Army occupied Afyon Karahisar in Asia Minor.
- 1970: Polykarpos Georkadjis was assassinated in Cyprus.
- 1993: Aris defeated Efes Pilsen 50-48 in Turin to win the European Cup-Winners' Cup. A vicious chair-throwing fight followed the match, between Greek fans and Turkish fans and players.
