Nea Ionia is a city in Thessaly, Greece. It is part of the Magnesia prefecture, and a suburb of Volos. The name "New Ionia" refers to refugees from western Anatolia that settled in the area after the Greco-Turkish War (1919-1922).
The city of Nea Ionia has a population of 31,612 (2001 Census). The municipality includes the community of Glafyra and has a total population of 31,929.
Nea Ionia is home to Beta Ethniki football club Niki Volos.
