Kyriakos Mavronikolas is a Cypriot doctor (ophthalmologist), politician and former Minister for Defence.

Mavronikolas was born in Paphos in 1955. He studied medicine at the University of Athens. Later, he went to Britain for graduate studies, specialising in ophthalmiatry. While a student, Mavronikolas became involved in politics, joining EDEK and later KISOS. He was appointed Minister for Defence on March 1, 2003 by President Tassos Papadopoulos, apost he held until June 13, 2006.
