Markos Kyprianou is the current Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus.
Kyprianou was born in Limassol, on January 22 1960. He studied Law at the University of Athens with graduate studies at Trinity College, Cambridge University and Harvard Law School. He practised law from 1985 to 2003.
From 1986 to 1991, Kyprianou served as City Councillor of Nicosia. He was elected to the House of Representatives in the 1991 parliamentary elections, under the banner of the Democratic Party of Cyprus and was re-elected in 1996 and in 2001. He resigned from the House of Representatives in March 2003 to serve as Minister of the Economy, a post he held until May 1, 2004.
On February 29, 2008 he was appointed Minister for Foreign Affairs.
