Andreas Pipinos was a fighter in the Greek War of Independence, noted for his success with fireships.
Pipinos was born in Hydra in 1780. In 1822, he took part, with Konstantinos Kanaris, in the burning of the Turkish flagship Mansuriye which resulted in the death of Pasha Kara-Ali who was responsible for the utter destruction of Chios.
Pipinos also took part in the naval battle of Gerontas where he burned another Turkish ship. He was wounded in the battle.
He was honoured in his native Hydra.
Pipinos died in 1836.
