After five years, he joined Aris where, over the next 16 years he would make his mark on Greek football, participating in 473 Alpha Ethniki games and scoring 142 goals. Among his distinctions, Kouis was top scorer in 1981 with 21 goals.

During his football career Kouis was capped 33 times scoring 7 goals. The high point of his international career came on October 15, 1980 when his goal helped Greece defeat Denmark 1-0 in Copenhagen.
