From 1987 to 2012, the Giannakopoulos brothers managed Panathinaikos BC, Panathinaikos VC, and all of the Panathinaikos club's amateur sports sections. In 2012, Pavlos' son, Dimitris Giannakopoulos, took over control of Panathinaikos BC.

Giannakopoulos died on June 10, 2018.
