  • 1955: Michalis Karaolis, with two EOKA companions, executed Special Branch police constable Herodotus Poullis in Ledra Street, Lefkosia.
  • 2001: Archbishop Christodoulos announces that 3 million Greek citizens have voted to allow religious affiliation on national identity cards following an informal poll conducted by the Church of Greece.
