Ibrahim Mughrabi was the first foreigner to play for AEK. He was acquired from Syria - his government's approval was required - for the 1963 season which ended with AEK's first championship of the post-World War II era. He participated in 22 league games scoring 7 goals that year, his only year in Greece.
