Antros Kyprianou is, as of January 21, 2009, the Secretary General of the Progressive Party of Working People of Cyprus (AKEL).
Kyprianou was born on October 26, 1955, in Lefkosia. He studied architecture with graduate studies in Rimini, Italy.
He was first elected to the House of Representatives of Cyprus on May 27, 2001 and was re-elected in 2006. Until January 21, 2009, he was Secretary of the Central Committee of AKEL on international relations, a member of the political office of the Central Committee and party press spokesman.
As Secretary General of AKEL, he replaces Dimitris Christofias who was elected President of Cyprus in 2008.
