Condottiero (plural: Condottieri) (Greek: Μισθοφορος). Condottieri were mercenary leaders or war lords, who used to maintain and lead a company/army of professional soldiers. Condottieri, used to sell their services to the best bidder, many, when unemployed, turn to Piracy. One of the better known Condottieri was Roger de Flor, leader of the famous "Grand Compnay of Catalans", active from About 1280 to 1305. (Roger was killed April 1305).
