Greek Cadets Corp. Founded in Saint Petersburg in 1775, by order of the Empress of Russia Catherine II, "The Great", it was created as a branch of Russia's 2nd Cadets Corp (kind of military school), with the Russian Admiral Alexei Orloff - Chesmenskiy the intitiator of the new order.

Count Orloff and his brothers were taking children of Noble Greek families or orphan children (parents killed by the Turks), originating from the mainland Greece and the islands, especially Crete
The young men and women were transported to Saint Petersburg by the Russian fleet of Count Orloff and Vice-Admiral Elmanov.
Among the first to graduate in 1790 was George Vlastos.
