Pertinax (Greek Περτίναξ) was Bishop of Byzantium from 169 until 187 AD.
Pertinax was a Roman officer who served in Thrace. He was healed of an illness through the prayers of Alypius, the Bishop of Byzantium, and became a Christian.
He succeeded Alypius in 169 AD. With his own funds he built the church of Agia Irene which served as the seat of the Bishops of Byzantium.
He died in 187 AD.
