Zoniana is a town in the municipality of Anogia in the prefecture of Rethymno, Crete, Greece.
The population of the town was 1578 inhabitants, according to the 2001 census.
Zoniana came into the news on November 5, 2007 when a convoy of policemen, investigating the production of illegal drugs in the area, came under automatic gunfire from its inhabitants. After the incident, it emerged that Zoniana was practically out of the control of the Greek government, a place where drugs are cultivated and exported to Holland, a place where teachers refused to be assigned as students were known to come to class armed.
