Georges Sarri (Greek Ζωρζ Σαρή) or Zorz Sarri was the nom de plume of Georgia Sarivaxevani (May 1925 – 9 June 2012), a Greek author[1][2] and actress. Her mother was French and her father was Greek. From an early age, she developed an interest in acting, and she started her acting career in 1962. Among her credits is Phaedra, a 1962 film directed by Jules Dassin starring his wife Melina Mercouri and Anthony Perkins.
Sarri studied in Rondiris' Drama School and later she continued her studies in Paris. She wrote numerous books. In 1994 she won the Best Children Literature book award for her book Ninet (which was a semi-autobiography of her sister). In 1995 and 1999, she was awarded the "Greek Cycle of Books". In 1988, she was nominated for the Hans Christian Andersen Award. Furthermore, as an actress, she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in the Thessaloniki Film Festival.
She died in Athens on 9 June 2012 at age 87.[3]
