Giorgos Tsakanikas was a Greek athlete who competed in both the shot put and the discus throw.
Tsakanikas was born in Palaio Faliro on November 10, 1934. He competed in the Melbourne Olympiad (1956) - qualifying for the finals in the shot put - the Rome Olympiad (1960) and the Tokyo Olympiad of 1964.
Tsakanikas broke the Greek record for the shot put 14 times, the last time being on September 26, 1964 - an effort of 18.21m.
Among his accomplishments were gold medals in the Mediterranean Games of 1959 and the Balkan Games of 1955, 1957, 1959, 1960 and 1961.
