• March 15: By Royal decree, March 25th becomes a national holiday in Greece.

April

• April 11: The people of Hydra revolt, demanding exclusion from Greek conscription laws. The revolt will last five days.

September

• September 25: Daily "Eon" hits the newsstands. It is published by historian Ioannis Philemon and will cease publication in 1891.
