Emmanouil Karalis is a Greek pole vault athlete.
Karalis was born on October 20, 1999, the son of Haris Karalis - a Greek decathlon athlete - and an Ugandan long jump female athlete. He is an athlete of Olympiakos since October 2021 and trains under Vasilis Megaloeconomou.
On February 14, 2016, Karalis came to prominence by breaking the world junior (under age 18) record with a 5.53m performance in the Stadium of Peace and Friendship.
On March 5 of the same year, he improved his world junior record with a jump of 5.54m in Jablonec, Czechia.
On May 20 still that same year, Karalis jumped 5.55m, in Ostrava, improving his record yet again.
On January 19, 2019 Karalis won a gold medal at the first indoor Mediterranean Athletics U23 Championships in Miramas (France), jumping 5.55m.
In the Paris Olympics of 2024, he won a bronze medal jumping 5.93.
Karalis became the first Greek pole vaulter to jump 6.00m at the Silesia Stadium in Chorzow, Poland, on August 25, 2024.
On March 9, 2025, he won gold at the European Indoor Athletics Championships in Apeldoorn, Netherlands with a 5.90m performance. On March 22, 2025, he won silver at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Nanjing, China, breaking the Greek record for the pole vault with a 6.05m jump.
His personal best jumps are currently (March 2025): 6.00m. outdoor and 6.05m. indoor.
