Maniaki (Messinia)

Maniaki is a town in the municipality of Papaflessa in Messenia prefecture, Greece.

Its population in 2001 was 109 inhabitants.

On May 20, 1825, during the Greek War of Independence, Grigoris Papaflessas tried to hold Ibrahim Pasha and a superior Turco-Egyptian force at Maniaki. During the ensuing Battle of Maniaki, Papaflessas and his men fell heroically defending their positions.
