- March 31: The first post-WW II elections are held in Greece. Stylianos Gonatas' Laiko Komma emerges victorious. The elections were boycotted by the Communist Party of Greece.
September
- September 1: A referendum is held on the return of King George II. According to the official results, 68.3% of the populace approve his return.
- September 28: King George II is formally recalled to the throne after a very controversial referendum.
