Atromitos Athens were founded in the suburb of Peristeri in 1923. They contested the first championship ever played (1928) as champions of Athens and have had good runs in the past in the local Athens championship prior to the establishment of the National Championship in 1959. Since then, they have had a few seasons in the A' Division and are back in 2005 as part of their merger with Chalkidona.
