Events
- 1824: Theodoros Kolokotronis surrenders to the revolutionary government.
- 1934: The Government announces its decision to proceed with the establishment of a radio station
- 1963: Banker Ioannis Paraskevopoulos forms a caretaker government as elections are proclaimed for February 1964.
- 1963: The Green Line, separating the Greek and Turkish sectors of Lefkosia, is agreed upon by the two communities.
- 1975: The trial for the events at the Athens Polytechnic School student uprising comes to an end with all defendants found guilty as charged
- 1981: Drastic measures are taken to combat pollution in Athens. These include the alternating ban of motor vehicles from the city centre, based on the last digit of their license plate (odd-even).

- 1894: In a letter addressed to Dimitrios Vikelas, a student expresses his enthusiasm over the upcoming Athens 1896 Olympics and dedicates himself to the cause by offering 10 drachmas every month from the 1st January of 1895
- 1973: Aris is defeated at Harilaou Stadium by Olympiacos with 2-4 and the team’s president, Nikos Kambanis, orders the immediate substitution of the goalkeeper, Nikos Christidis by Stelios Papafloratos, considering him “suspiciously” responsible for the loss, since this is the second home defeat in the season.
- 1996: First Eurostars (the European All-Star Basketball Game) held in Istanbul. Panagiotis Fassoulas, Giorgos Sigalas, David Rivers, Nikos Economou and Yurij Zdovc play for the East (led by Dusan Ivkovic)
- 1997: The second Eurostars basketball game is held in Tel Aviv. East (Karnisovas, Economou, Radja, Scott- coached by Dusan Ivcovic) beats West 129-107. Arturas Karnisovas is voted MVP
- 2002: Olympiakos defeat Vasas of Hungary 6-5 to win the European Super Cup of Water Polo.
