- 338 BC - Rise of Macedon: Philip II of Macedon crushes Athens and Thebes in the Battle of Chaeronea.
- 1645: The Ottoman army seizes Chania, Crete. The commander of the Turkish force however was executed for losing 40,000 men in the siege.
- 1989: Former Panathinaikos footballer, Lakis Sofianos, is found hanged in his prison cell.
