  • August 16: Greek officers in Thessaloniki form the National Defence Movement.
  • August 29: The Greek 4th Army Corps surrenders to the Germans. It will remain in captivity in Silesia until the end of World War I.

  • December 1: French and British forces land in Piraeus to occupy strategic posts in that city as well as Athens. They are met in ambush by royalist forces and battles take place with casualties on both sides. After their departure, a pogrom breaks out against Venizelists throughout Greece. These events went down in history as the November Events (Noemvriana) because they took place on November 18 (OS).
