533: Belisarius defeats the Vandals at the Battle of Ad Decimum, beginning the reconquest of the west under the Emperor Justinian I.
1916: Eleftherios Venizelos leaves for Thessaloniki with 300 of his followers to take charge of the National Defence Movement.
1921: The Battle of the Sakarya ends with the withdrawal of the Greek Army.
1931: A powerful earthquake rocks the island of Euboea.
