1865: The remains of poet Dionysios Solomos are brought to his native Zakynthos for re-burial.
1908: Sultan Abdul Hamid, under pressure from the Young Turk movement, grants rights to the Ottoman subjects including full amnesty to guerrilas in Macedonia. The Macedonian Struggle ends as both Greek and Bulgarian partizans cease their activity.
1913: Alexandroupolis (then known as Dedeagac) is liberated by Greek forces during the Second Balkan War. The Treaty of Bucharest will return it to Bulgarian control.
1944: Lela Karayianni, leader of resistance group "Bouboulina", is captured by the Germans.
