- April 1: A defendant is shot and wounded and his lawyer is killed, during a trial for negligent homicide. The culprit - who kills himself afterwards - is the father of the man whom the defendant killed in a traffic accident.
May
- May 3: Greek-American Steven John Lalas is arrested by US authorities on charges of spying on behalf of Greece.
- May 11: Olympiakos win the first professional Basketball Championship (organized by ESAK) when Panathinaikos refuse to play the last playoff game at Peace and Friendship Stadium.
- May 15: Aris Salonica sign Ricci Thews for only one game, the Greek Cup final against Panathinaikos (with Nikos Galis in their roster). Panathinaikos will win by 96-89 in Athens.
- May 25: First european football final held at Athens' OAKA Stadium. Hamburg win the European Champions Cup as they defeat Juventus 1-0 (Magath). Top scorer Paolo Rossi (6 goals) fails to score despite the fact he is assisted by players of great caliber (Platini, Boniek, Bettega, Scirea)

- September 9: The government of Constantine Mitsotakis collapses after the defection of four MPs.

- October 10: PASOK win the general elections in Greece with 46.88% of the vote.
