• February 25: Turkish forces occupy the small island of Vasiladi, outside Mesolonghi, making the situation of the besieged Greeks more difficult.

• July 19: Georgios Karaiskakis becomes commander in chief of Greek revolutionary forces in Roumeli.

• September 26: Chrysanthus I is removed from the office of Ecumenical Patriarch by the High Porte.

• November 23: Big victory for Georgios Karaiskakis who was on the offensive against the Ottomans at Arachova during the War of Independence
• November 26: French philhellene Charles Fabvier liberates Athens from the Turks.
