• May 1: May Day is celebrated for the first time in Greece.

June

• June 5: A boat race is organised at Pasalimani (Zea harbour), Piraeus, to benefit the local retirement home. Prince George of Greece volunteers to be the judge.

December

• December 30: In a letter addressed to Dimitrios Vikelas, a student expresses his enthusiasm over the upcoming Athens 1896 Olympics and dedicates himself to the cause by offering 10 drachmas every month from the 1st January of 1895
