Constantinos Makrides

Constantinos Makrides is a retired Cypriot football midfielder.

Makrides was born on January 13, 1982 in Nicosia. He started his career in the youth academy of Apollon Lemesos. He transferred to APOEL in 2004.

With APOEL Makrides won two championship titles and two Cups. He scored some spectacular goals (e.g. chipping the goalkeeper of Omonia from the midway line; picking up the ball in his own half and passing the entire Maccabi Tel-Aviv defence before slotting home in the UEFA Cup, etc.).

In 2008, he ventured abroad playing for Metalurg Donetsk. The following year he returned to Cyprus to play for Omonia. After three seasons he returned to Metalurg Donetsk and played there for three more years. In 2015 he went for a second spell to APOEL and played there for one season before completing the circle at Apollon Lemesos where he retired after the 2017/2018-season.

Makrides has been capped 77 times by the Cyprus National Football Team, scoring 5 goals. He is the current #5 in the list of most capped players for his country.
