Gasparis was born in Smyrna, Asia Minor, in 1913. He first played for Ethnikos Kaisariani in 1927 and later for Apollon Athens. He came to AEK in 1937 and played for AEK's defence alongside Giorgos Papadopoulos forming one of the most talented defensive partnerships of the pre-World War II era.
