Peace and Friendship Stadium
The stadium was built in the early 1980s, on landfill near the Karaiskakis Stadium. It is commonly known as "S.E.F." from its Greek initials - Stadio Eirinis kai Filias. It was inaugurated by then-Prime Minister Andreas Papandreou on February 16, 1985 and was first used for a major event for the European Indoor Athletics Championship in March of that same year.
The Peace and Friendship Stadium is used for basketball, athletics, volleyball, team handball, weightlifting, boxing, wrestling, gymnastics etc. It has also been the venue of many concerts and other artistic performances.
