Giorgos Giannakopoulos

Giorgos Giannakopoulos was a Greek talented football midfielder for Panionios, Panathinaikos and Aegaleo FC. His specialty was the diving header.

Giannakopoulos was born in Kallithea in 1941. He was the son of Antonis Giannakopoulos, a former Panionios player. He started his career at Ethnikos Koukaki before moving to Panionios in 1958. In 1963, he moved on to Panathinaikos where he was sparingly used.

After 1966, he went to Aegaleo as part of the deal that sent Victor Mitropoulos to Panathinaikos. He was a member of Aegaleo's 1971 team that finished in the top 4 of the Alpha Ethniki.

Giannakopoulos ended his career at Kallithea FC. Afterwards, he coached minor clubs such as Phoenix Kallithea and Moschato FC.

He died on August 2, 2010.
