Comments
AEK were three points in front of Panathinaikos with two games to go. A victory in either game or two draws would have sufficed to win them the title but that was not to be: AEK drew 2-2 against Proodeftiki in the penultimate match of the season and then lost 2-1 to Panionios. Meanwhile Panathinaikos defeated Olympiakos 4-1, in the last game of the season, drawing even on points with AEK and forcing the playoff game.
