Kapouranis was born on May 20, 1966 in Germany. He played as a midfielder for:
- Olympiakos (1985 - 1988)
- Panionios (1988 - 1991)
- Athinaikos (1991 - 1992)
- Panathinaikos (1993 - 1997)
- Patraikos (1997 - 1999)
- Thesprotos Igoumenitsa (1999 - 2000)
During his career Kapouranis was capped four times by the National Football Team of Greece.
Before playing with the senior squad, he was a member of the Under-21 team that reached the final of the European Cup in 1988.
