- 1821: The revolting Greeks prevailed over the Turkish forces at Chalandri and took over Athens.
- 1918: The First Congress of Greek socialists was held, from which the Socialist Labour Party of Greece or SEKE was born. A few years later it was renamed to Communist Party of Greece (Kommounistiko Komma Ellados, Κομμουνιστικό Κόμμα Ελλάδος, KKE).
