Veria FC was founded in 1960 when two local teams (Hermes and Vermio) merged. Their nicknames are "Queen of the North" and "Rossoblu".

Having been promoted in the 2007 season from the Greek Beta Ethniki, they will be playing the 2008 season in the Greek Football A Division. Their Top Division record so far:
