- 1913: The Treaty of Bucharest was concluded ending the Second Balkan War.
- 1920: The Treaty of Sevres was signed creating the "Greece of two continents and five seas".
- 1933: Striking lignite mine workers in Aliveri clashed with the police.
- 1987: The Revolutionary Organization 17 November killed 11 US soldiers in a bus at Kavouri. The explosive device used was detonated by remote control.
