• 1835: Kyriakos Serfiotis is sworn in as the first mayor of Piraeus.
• 1948: The Democratic Army of Greece is repelled at Edessa.
• 1975: CIA Station Chief Richard Welch is assassinated outside his villa in Psychiko. A previously unheard of organisation called the "Revolutionary Organization 17 November" takes responsibility.
