- 1923: The Julian Calendar was officially replaced by the Gregorian in Greece. February 16 became March 1.
- 1935: Eleftherios Venizelos fled to Italy after the March 1 Movement failed.
- 1952: Nikos Beloyiannis was sentenced to death by a military tribunal.
- 1959: After three years of exile, Archbishop Makarios III returned to Cyprus to an unprecedented welcome: Nearly two-thirds of all adult Cypriots turned out to greet him.
- 1963: A fixed fine was established for Members of the Greek Parliament who missed a session without a valid excuse.
- 1996: The Greek Supreme Court "Areios Pagos" declared unconstitutional the confiscation of the Royal property in Greece.
