Evangelos "Vangelis" Meimarakis is a Greek politician, the current Minister for National Defence of the Greek Republic.

Meimarakis was born in Athens in 1953. He studied Law at the University of Athens and Political Science at Panteios University.

Meimarakis was first elected to the Hellenic Parliament in June 1989, under the banner of New Democracy. He was reelected in 1990, 1993, 1996, 2000 and 2004.

From December 1992 until October 1993 Meimarakis served as Deputy Minister of Culture, responsible for Sports. He was appointed Minister for National Defence on February 15, 2006.

He is married with two daughters.
