Alexis Galanos (Greek: Αλέξης Γαλανός), is a Cypriot politician.
Galanos was born on August 20, 1940. He studied Economics science and Sociology at King's College and Law at Inner Temple. He was one of the founders of the Democratic Party of Cyprus (DIKO) and served the party in various capacities: As secretary general from 1989 until 1990 and vice-president from 1990 until 1996. He has also served as a member of House of Representatives of Cyprus from 1976 until 1999. In 1991, he was elected Speaker of the House.
In 1998, Galanos announced his decision to resign as a member of DIKO because he disagreed with Spyros Kyprianou's decision to support Georgios Iakovou for the 1998 presidential elections. In 1999, he also resigned from Parliament.
In 1998, he created the party Komma Evrodimokratikis Ananeosis (KEA) and was the first President of the party.
He was candidate for the 1998 presidential elections and gained 16,003 votes (4.04%).
In 2003 presidential elections he supported Tassos Papadopoulos.
He was candidate for the 2004 European parliament elections with DIKO but failed to be elected.
Currently, he serves as mayor of the occupied city of Famagusta.
