- 1916: Eleftherios Venizelos left for Thessaloniki with 300 of his followers to take charge of the National Defence Movement.
- 1921: The Battle of the Sakarya ended with the withdrawal of the Greek Army.
- 1986: A powerful earthquake (6.2 on the Richter scale) stroke Kalamata causing extensive damage and five fatalities.
