Events
January
- January 28: Andreas Miaoulis defeats the Turco-Egyptian fleet at the Battle of Araxos and supplied the besieged at Messolonghi.
February
- February 25: Turkish forces, under Hussein Bey, occupy the small island of Vasiladi, outside Mesolonghi, making the situation of the besieged Greeks more difficult.
March
- March 1: Aitoliko surrenders to Ibrahim Pasha.
- March 16: Greek forces under Charles Fabvier repel 4,000 Turkish troops at Karystos, Euboea.
- March 25: Kitsos Tzavellas repels a superior Turkish force, under Kutahye, which sought to land on the isle of Klisovo, across from Messolonghi.
April
- April 10: The Sortie of Messolonghi takes place on Palm Sunday. Out of 6,000 "besieged freemen" Greeks, only 1,300 escape.
June
- June 22: Ibrahim Pasha invades Mani but is repelled with heavy casualties.
- June 25: Egyptian forces attempt to land at Diros, Mani, while the Maniote forces are fighting elsewhere. They are repelled by a force of Maniote women and old men.
July
- July 3: Kutahye besieges Athens with a force of 10,000 men.
- July 19: Georgios Karaiskakis becomes commander in chief of Greek revolutionary forces in Roumeli.
August
- August 3: Kutahye breaks through the Greek defences and enters Athens. Greeks are forced to take positions on the Acropolis.
- August 6: Greek forces under Karaiskakis, Kriezotis and Fabvier defeat superior Turkish forces at Chaidari.
- August 28: The Maniotes, under Georgios Mavromichalis, repel Ibrahim Pasha at the Battle of Polyaravos.
